Recipe: BBQ Monkfish & Chorizo Skewers with Confit Cherry Tomatoes & Mixed Herb Salad

This was a recipe we featured last year on our old website. It was really well received and I tried it myself on the BBQ one Friday evening with fresh Monkfish caught that day in Howth, Co Dublin. I wanted it to get onto the new site and be there for those that look at the recipes we post here. Ian comes up with these recipes entirely from scratch and this one is one that works a treat. Twice marinated BBQ leg of lamb with baked potatoes & salad

Twice marinated BBQ leg of lamb with baked potatoes & salad

This recipe was one Ian - our foodie created last year. In the switchover to our new site, it got lost in the mix and we've had some requests for it to be reposted. It is ideally a BBQ dish and it may still be too early for that but you can call that. You could always do this in the oven as well. Now that Lamb is in season again that's the most important part. Ian's particularly good with his pastes and marinades and...

Spotlight on Syrah

The noble Syrah grape originated in the Rhone area of France and is used to make dry, full bodied reds. The trademark flavour of French Syrah is black pepper. Although there is much confusion and many misconceptions, Shiraz is in fact the same grape as Syrah. They are both made from the same small dark skinned grape, but based on the climate and soil (terroir) in which it is grown, you can expect very different characteristics in style. Syrah associated with the old world of France and Shiraz with new world particularly Australia.

When you're celebrating, it's all about the company your sharing, coupled with a glass of something lovely in your hand and some small nibbles to keep everyone ticking over. The key thing here is the oven temperature, it gives...
