If you are looking for an innovative way to engage with clients and staff on a social level, WineOnline.ie have a whole range of customisable wine tastings for you to choose from.
Thankfully we are moving back to ‘in person’ or ‘Live’ Wine Tasting Events in 2022! We are still offering our Virtual Experiences suitable for those that are based further afield or teams that are spread far and wide. However, our Live Wine Tasting Events allow us all to get back into a room together and learn a little more about wine in a friendly and warm atmosphere, surrounded by great wines.
Our tasting events are hosted by our team of wine experts – Will Mullin and Michael O’Connor – and the tone is engaging, informal and fun. Between them, Will and Michael have over 50 years experience of wine in both retail and restaurant settings. Both are passionate about food and wine matching and this along with tips such as decanting and storing wine, as well as understanding vintages and which regions to get the best value wines from, are all areas they touch upon. They won’t be delving into the PH levels of the soils though. They care more about the place, the people, the grapes, the stories and the energy from which wines are made!
How does it work?
Choosing a Wine Tasting with WineOnline.ie couldn't be easier. You can choose a theme for your tasting – below are our 3 most popular – and this forms the basis of the 90 minute tasting.
Every tasting is different and our events are designed so that you can build your own event based on your requirements. So whether you want a festival style tasting for many in a larger venue, or an intimate tasting for a few in your offices, we can tailor the event to suit your group.
Choose from one of our handpicked Dublin City Centre venues for larger groups (contact us for details)
Hugo’s is a cosy wine bar located in Dublin’s metropolitan city centre district, beside St Stephens Green in Dublin 2. Tastings here with WineOnline.ie will be available on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Smaller tastings will be held downstairs in the private basement wine bar where wine memorabilia adorns the walls.
Larger tastings will be held upstairs in the 45 seater wine bar. Each and every tasting we do is private for your group only, so the restaurant will be closed to other groups and patrons during these tastings.
Our Tasting Themes
1. The Tour De France - 'A Trip Though the Regions'
The history of winemaking in France goes back centuries. In this tasting we will tour the most famous winemaking regions of France, tasting the grape varieties as we go and explaining the stories and people behind the wines. This is a fun, informal tasting journey that will give guests enough knowledge to choose & buy French wines confidently. After tasting through six wines, we will taste a remarkable cognac to finish off the evening. A wonderful tasting experience for all!

2. Europe Versus the Rest of the World
Countries that have been producing wines for 100 years or less are often referred to as New World. The wines are always compared to those of their European counterparts and in this tasting we will put them all head to head. We discuss the differences and pitch them against each other. Who will come out on top – Do the Europeans reign supreme or does the imagination of the New World put them in front. This is a fun tasting where we explore the differences between both.

Reviews for our Virtual Tasting Experiences:
‘Thank you so much for the wine tasting on Friday night, the Idea crew really enjoyed it! It’s a really innovative idea, especially at a time like this when businesses are trying to think of ways to bring teams together whilst they are all working remotely. And you even managed to make people thing a little differently about Chardonnay!’
Jane Dane - IDEA,
Just a note to say thanks for a great event yesterday. Feedback was hugely positive across the board, with my CEO saying the event was “flawless”.
Jennifer - Aylien, August 2020

A huge thank you for hosting our party. It was a really enjoyable evening and a few of us stayed on for another couple of hours enjoying the delicious wine. Thank you for being patient with us - certainly not a quiet bunch!

We had Michael and Will join us to run a virtual wine tasting experience as part of a corporate event for our customers. The wine tasting was a huge success and I have had great feedback from colleagues and customers. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the wines which were picked specifically for this event in mind. There was a very relaxed approach to the wine tasting, allowing everyone to get involved which was fantastic. I have had someone tell me they could have listened to Michael and Will speak about the wines for another hour! We would highly recommend the WineOnline virtual wine tasting experience, so much so, we are already organising our next event!
