After the total destruction of the vineyard in the 19th Century by phylloxera, it took about thirty years to rebuild the vineyard and make it capable of making great wines again.
On the 1960's André Bessette restructured the entire vineyard (more qualitative grape varieties and rootstocks as well as the drainage of all the plantations). In the 80s, the vineyard extended over 20 hectares, a cellar allowing stainless steel tanks is built.
André's son Alain, joined the winery in 1999 having trained in numerous other top properties in Bordeaux.
Since 1999, they have built a new underground barrel cellar, a bottling and a conditioning cellar for ageing their wines, as well as completely modernising the facilities in the winery for world class Bordeaux production.
Alains Wife Dolores works with him in sales and marketing and they are a lovely team. We have been working with their wines since 2019. They are some of the best value Bordeaux wines we carry in Ireland and we are proud import them.
