A bold Tennessee Whiskey bottled at 50% alcohol. The first release of Big Moustache produced 580 cases from 14 hand selected barrels. The mash build is 80% corn, 10% rye and 10% malted barley. Fermented for 3 days then the freshly distilled unaged whiskey is filtered over sugar maple charcoal before going into new American oak barrels for at least four years
Nose
Vanilla, tonka beans, warm butter, toffee, warm wood, maple syrup, warm spicy spices and a very small puff of smoke. Also some fruit in the distance.
Palate
tickles the tongue. Vanilla, caramel, toffee, wood, slightly fruity. Thick mouthfeel. Maple syrup.
Finish
Long! Warming and powerful. Toffee, vanilla and wood, and some smoke here too. Very different kind of smoke than we are used to from Islay. This is more like a warm aromatic smoke.
