“Castellare di Castellina 2021 is one of three Chianti Classico, that is, from the historic area and not to be confused with generic Chiantis, in this year’s Top 100,”  A great success for the Chianti Classico denomination, not to be confused with the simple Chianti, without a specific production area.”

Winemaking Chianti Classico di Castellare is produced from a selection of the best clones of Sangioveto, the noble native version of Sangiovese, and only other native vines such as Canaiolo, Colorino and Malvasia Nera.
Mostly exposed to the South-West, the Chianti Classico vineyards give the wine a floral bouquet of violet, iris and sweet violet, typical of the sandstone soil, and an aroma of wild berries, typical of the calcareous component of the soil. The soil ranges from clayey/sandy to stony with medium percentages of clay with modest quantities of organic matter and a reduced presence of assimilable phosphorus.
The yields per hectare in Castellare are very low, significantly below the maximum set by the DOCG Chianti Classico regulations.

Tasting Note: Begins with a very nice aroma of black cherry, plum, a little baking spice, a little earth and some nice floral notes. Tasting the wine reveals plum, oak , liquorice and a bit of spice .A nice dense and velvety texture and some dusty tannins

Food Suggestion: Pair this with classic Tuscan dishes such as wild boar ragu, grilled steak and stewed white beans.
