Ribera del Duero is a complex land and harsh climate with unique conditions that produce, at high altitude, grapes of exceptional quality. The grapes ripen fully but at a slower rate, maintaining the necessary acidity needed to produce a beautifully balanced wine. Mild leather aromas blend with blackberry notes to form a structured wine with a hint of spiciness. It finishes with mostly ripe berry, tobacco, oak and vanilla flavors.
Rioja, Spain

This wine comes from the Muntanyans estate in Penedes, where there is a specific plot on which the Cabernet grapes are grown. It goes through a meticulous production process with a maceration time of no less than three weeks. This wine has aged in oak casks for over 14 months and then been bottled, after which it has continued to age in the bottle for two more years.
Intense aromas of raisins and jams with slight traces of oak. If you swirl the glass round, more varietal aromas and spicy notes such as clove or pepper will appear.
A gentle palate with moderate ageing. The flavours due to its ageing stand out in good balance with the body of the wine. A long finish and intense full body leave a pleasant flavour in the mouth.
Red Bat Priorat
Priorat, Spain

This wine is a Biodynamic wine - paying tribute to a species of bat that was introduced into the ecosystem of the vineyards where Pinord grows their grapes, this bat feeds precisely on the insects that attack the vines. This enabled Pinord to avoid the use of pesticides and produce a wine which was not only ecological but also biodynamic.
This colony of Bats was given to Pinord by WWW the Wildlife protection charity, and with the proceeds from this wine, Bodegas Pinord, reinvest so that they can in turn fund additional colonies of bats back to the charity to further enhance Biodynamic production across Spain. Bodegas Navajas Graciano
Rioja, Spain

A family winery that was founded in 1918. This is an unusual wine since most rioja is made from either 100% Tempranillo or a very high proportion of Tempranillo in the blend. The Graciano that goes into the Bodegas Navajas wine is all from old vines with low yields and is relatively late harvested – normally in the first week of October. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for 12-14 months and then given a year to rest in bottle before being released on to the market

Bodegas Matsu El Picaro

An intense succulent, juicy red wine which is luscious and rugged. Supple ripe strawberry and blackcurrant fruit provides the character, and a warming spicy finish gives personality to this delicious honest red. Packed full of black and bramble fruit flavours, licorice and a very, very dark strawberry core, there is a fresh vibrancy about this wine that betrays its making: very little oak is used in aging this and there is no shame in that at all. This is a delicious and dense wine that shows that Toro specifically and Spain in the broader reference, is capable of power within vineyards that doesn't require oak to get its message of quality and typicity to its audience.
