Bodegas Pinord Cava

The story of Bodegas Pinord started more than 150 years ago, when the Tetas family began to make wines on their estate at Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues. Their award-winning Cava ‘+&+’ stands for ‘More and More’, which represents the unparalleled drinkability of this crisp and refreshing sparkling wine. It was awarded the Best Cava from the region by Master of Wine Tim Akin - High Praise indeed!

A modern Reserva style rioja that is shortlisted for overall WineOnline.ie wine of the year which is to be announced on November 19th 2024. A fantastically well made wine, that is reduced to just €20 as part of this case, doen from €28 per bottle. Top quality, from old vines in a single vineyard. world Class effort from Fergal Tynan MW from Ireland.
This wine comes from the Muntanyans estate in Penedes, where there is a specific plot on which the Cabernet grapes are grown. It goes through a meticulous production process with a maceration time of no less than three weeks. This wine has aged in oak casks for over 14 months and then been bottled, after which it has continued to age in the bottle for two more years.
Intense aromas of raisins and jams with slight traces of oak. If you swirl the glass round, more varietal aromas and spicy notes such as clove or pepper will appear.
A gentle palate with moderate ageing. The flavours due to its ageing stand out in good balance with the body of the wine. A long finish and intense full body leave a pleasant flavour in the mouth.
Red Bat Priorat

This wine is a Biodynamic wine - paying tribute to a species of bat that was introduced into the ecosystem of the vineyards where Pinord grows their grapes, this bat feeds precisely on the insects that attack the vines. This enabled Pinord to avoid the use of pesticides and produce a wine which was not only ecological but also biodynamic.
This colony of Bats was given to Pinord by WWW the Wildlife protection charity, and with the proceeds from this wine, Bodegas Pinord, reinvest so that they can in turn fund additional colonies of bats back to the charity to further enhance Biodynamic production across Spain. What a joyous wine this is. It has benefitted immensely from 3 years if ageing in the bottle and is a 2021 vintage. All of the freshness and structure is bound by ageing on the lee's here. The fruit is singing and this is wonderful alone or wonderful whenpaired with chicken, creamy dishe, roast meats or seafood. it is so versatile and fresh. Move over Chardonnay or viognier and in comes Xarel-lo pronounced 'Jarr-el-lo'.
