Description:
Bodegas Riojanas is one of the century-old Rioja firms that have written memorable episodes in the history of Spanish wine. Viña Albina was the first brand to be launched on the market at the end of the nineteenth century. This Viña Albina Gran Reserva comes from a selection of the best vineyards in the Rioja Alta subzone, vineyards that embody the essence of elegance and harmony and produce wines whose laying-down potential has shaped the legend of the greatness of Rioja. This red won a gold award at The Rioja Masters, a competition organised by the prestigious publication The Drinks Business. It’s undoubtedly one of the most iconic Spanish brands that shouldn’t be missed.

Tasting Notes:
Ruby-red with subtle brick-red hues. In the nose, fresh, enticing notes of sour cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry give way to the true identity, personality and character of Viña Albina – the unique, distinctive floral notes that bring to mind the landscapes of the different terroirs (violet leaf, rose, lilac), ending with woody notes (nutmeg, cinnamon, pink pepper). The palate is powerful and seductive at first impression. The intense flavour and freshness provided by cherries, strawberries, raspberries give way to the warm and deep touches of dried tobacco leaf, coconut and dark chocolate.

Food Pairing:
Ideal with stewed lentils or chickpea stew.
