"The vineyards of this property in southwestern Sicily caught the eye and winemaking talents of Valentino Sciotti. Valentino (of Gran Sasso and Vesevo) saw that they had great vineyards and a good winery, but were missing the necessary expertise to make wines that the market required. Valentino and his team of young winemakers took the already high quality raw materials and transformed them into wines that people want to drink.
The 'Il Passo' Nerello Mascalese/Nero d'Avola is the star of the show here. It is beautifully packaged, yet the wine in the bottle exceeds expectations. It is freshly scented and is full, rich and supple on the palate."

The vineyards for Vigneti Zabù were planted in 2005 on the hills around Lake Arancio in Sambuca di Sicilia. The crystal clear water creates an ideal microclimate for vine growing and protects the vines from the heat of Sicilian summers. The organic vines are low yielding.
The best organic grapes were selected for the production of this wine. After a very long fermentation on skins to extract colour, body and aromas, the wine was pressed. 50% of the wine was aged in barriques and the other 50% in concrete tanks for about six months, where it underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was then bottled to preserve the fruit flavours.
Deep ruby in colour with a bouquet of red and dark fruits, hints of spice and a balsamic, eucalyptus quality. This is a full-bodied wine with well balanced acidity and lingering black fruit and spice.
Food Suggestion: Matches perfectly with medium aged cheese, red meat, game and boar.
