Description:
Vega Sicilia is legendary, Spain’s most iconic wine estate, established in 1864 when Don Eloy Lecanda, having trained as a winemaker in Bordeaux returned to Castille and planted varieties he had brought back with him, alongside the local hero, Tempranillo. The Alvarez family bought the estate in 1982 and in 1991 decided to create a Ribero del Duero released earlier than their famous Unico and so Alión was born, taking its name from Leon, where the family patriarch was born.

Food Pairing:  Delicious with roasted lamb shoulder, grilled ribeye steak, and braised short ribs, as well as classic Jamón Ibérico and smoked chorizo. It is also wonderful alongside savory dishes like wood-fired roasted peppers or a rich wild mushroom and lentil stew. For a cheese course, serve it alongside regional favorites such as aged Manchego and Zamorano, or with a smoky Idiazábal | 🌡️ Serve at a temperature around 16-18ºC.
