The origins of Rioja Vega go back to 1882 when Don Felipe Ugalde established a bodega bearing his name in Haro. In 1948 the bodega joined with Bodegas Muerza through marriage and the name disappeared. In 1983 it was acquired by the Group Principe de Viana who put significant investment in and a new brand Rioja Vega was born in January 2001. The new winery is located in the town of Viana, 10 km south-east of Logroño. The goal is to produce high quality grapes from low yields in modern surroundings. They use the best wine making techniques and know how to cement the Brand as one of the Leading Riojas in the Market.

Fruit driven yet with subtle complexity and development.Deep garnet coloured wine with shallow brick rim showing nice maturity. Intense nose of baked jammy fruits, balckberries, cherries and cassis with subtle cigar box tones. Dry and firm and very well weighted. lovely length and finish.
