Compañía de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez grew out of the partnership between Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza, two winemakers with deep experience in Burgundy and Rioja. They work across many of Spain's classic regions, always with the native grapes of each place, and are widely credited with helping to revive forgotten vineyards and village wines across the country.
O Barreiro is a single vineyard around Larouco in Valdeorras, on clay and slate soils. It is fermented with native yeasts and aged on its lees for around four months, without malolactic fermentation, which keeps it sharp and fresh.
Tasting Notes:
Pear, green apple, white peach, citrus peel and white flowers, with almond, fennel and wet stone. Dry, rounded and finely textured on the palate, with crisp acidity, a hint of creaminess from the lees and a long, stony finish.
Food Pairing:
Grilled prawns, scallops, octopus, salt cod, roast chicken, asparagus risotto or goat's cheese.
