Description:
Situated in the heart of the Rapaura area on the northern side of the Wairau valley in Marlborough, within 2km of the Wairau River and the Richmond Ranges, Stoneleigh lies within an area known locally as the ‘Golden Mile’ of vineyards.
Stoneleigh takes its name from the stones that cover the vineyard – land which is now home to some of the oldest grafted Sauvignon Blanc blocks in Marlborough. The stones store and reflect the sun’s heat up into the vines, enhancing the ripening process and contributing to the unique taste of Stoneleigh wines.
The secret’s in the name. Good quality fruit, great winemaking know-how and the secret power of…stones? Stoneleigh Pinot Noir
Yep, that’s right. Sunstones that used to form the river bed of an ancient river in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley are now used by the crew at Stoneleigh to radiate the daytime heat directly onto the vines, making them work hard to produce grapes full of flavour.
Tasting Note: Stoneleigh Pinot Noir is a soft, supple Marlborough Pinot full of dark berry fruit flavours with heaps of value for a Pinot at this kind of price.
Food Pairing: Pair it with duck, lamb, game meats or how about a mushroom risotto? Yum.
