Meet the Winemaker | Fergal Tynan MW – Wines of the World | Thursday 29th April 2027
WineOnline.ie are delighted to welcome Master of Wine and acclaimed winemaker Fergal Tynan for a very special evening showcasing wines from around the world that Fergal has been involved in making.
Fergal Tynan MW is one of the most experienced and respected figures in the international wine trade. Having worked across the world of wine for more than 30 years, Fergal's career has encompassed buying, selling and, most importantly for this special evening, winemaking across some of the world's most exciting wine regions. He became a Master of Wine in 2005 and has since developed a reputation for seeking out exceptional vineyards and creating wines that express their individual sense of place.
Fergal is perhaps best known for his work with Thistledown Wines, the Australian project he co-founded with fellow Master of Wine Giles Cooke, producing small-batch wines from outstanding sites in South Australia. The wines focus particularly on Grenache and demonstrate a more elegant, detailed and restrained expression of Australian wine.
His winemaking journey has also taken him to Southern France, where he founded Terres Fidèles in the Roussillon. The project is built around old vines, distinctive sites, low yields and a belief in allowing the character of the land to speak through the wine.
Fergal has also led the winemaking team behind deAlto Rioja y Más, creating wines from Rioja, Navarra and La Mancha with a contemporary approach centred on sustainability, freshness and a strong sense of place.
This unique dinner will therefore offer guests the opportunity to taste a selection of wines from different corners of the wine world, all connected by Fergal's hands-on involvement in their creation.
Where: One Ballsbridge
When: Thursday 29th April 2027
Time: 7.00pm – 10.30pm

The evening will begin with a glass of wine on arrival before Fergal takes us through a carefully selected line-up of wines from his winemaking portfolio.
Guests can expect wines from Australia, France, and Spain, alongside stories from Fergal's extensive career and an insight into the decisions, vineyards and people behind each bottle.
The dinner will be accompanied by a three-course meal, with each course matched to a selection of Fergal's wines.
Rather than focusing on one individual region or winery, this will be an evening exploring Fergal Tynan's world of winemaking — from the Grenache vineyards of South Australia to the wild landscapes of the Roussillon and the diverse terroirs of Spain.
Expect an entertaining, informative and genuinely unique evening with one of the world's leading wine professionals, exploring how the same winemaker approaches very different vineyards, grape varieties and wine cultures.
It will begin at 7.00pm and finish by approximately 10.30pm. We will email you the day before the event with final instructions and a reminder, and we look forward to welcoming you and your guests!
