WineOnline.ie are delighted to have David de la Fuente join us for our first Wine Dinner of 2027.

Bodegas Muga is one of Rioja Alta's most celebrated and traditional producers, based in the historic Barrio de la Estación in Haro. Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, the winery remains entirely family-run and is now guided by the third generation. Muga is renowned for its unwavering commitment to traditional winemaking — it is the only bodega in Spain with its own master coopers, hand-crafting every barrel, vat and cask used to age its wines.

David de la Fuente de la Cruz is the Export Director at Bodegas Muga. He's worked at Muga for a significant part of his career, and holds an MBA (2015–2016) from the Universidad del País Vasco. His background spans sales management, export management and business development — fitting for someone overseeing Muga's international distribution to over 70 countries!

Where: One Ballsbridge
When: Thursday 28th January 2027
Time: 7.00pm – 10.00pm
Tickets: €120

Muga's vineyards sit on the clay-calcareous and alluvial soils of Rioja Alta, at the foot of the Montes Obarenses, giving the wines their signature depth, structure and elegance. The estate produces a celebrated range across white, rosé and red, from crisp, oak-aged whites to their iconic long-lived reserva and gran reserva reds — all crafted using native Rioja varieties including Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo. Muga's wines have earned international acclaim and consistently rank among the world's most respected Rioja producers.

WineOnline.ie has proudly worked with these wines in Ireland for over 25 years, and they remain firm customer favourites to this day. The evening will begin with some of Muga's celebrated, award-winning white wine on arrival before David walks us through a 3 course dinner, showcasing a selection of Muga's finest wines, including their signature Reserva and Gran Reserva expressions.

David has promised to bring with him some bottles of the incredibly rare single-vineyard Bodegas Muga Torre Muga and all guests on the night will have the opportiunity to try this. Just 15 bottles of this wine are allocated to Ireland every year. The grapes come from a handful of named plots — El Estepal, La Loma, Baltracones, La Loma Alta and Sajazarra — from vines planted between 1926 and 1976 at high altitude.

On the night you will get to try the following wines:

  • Muga Blanco
  • Muga Rosado
  • Muga Tinto Reserva
  • Muga Selección Especial
  • Muga Prado Enea
  • Muga Torre Muga

Expect an evening immersed in the tradition and craftsmanship of Rioja's most iconic family winery, tasting through the wines over an enjoyable, informal and informative three course meal.

It will begin at 7.00pm and finish at circa 10.30pm. We will email you the day before the event with final instructions and a reminder, and we look forward to welcoming you and your guests!
