Heaphy Estate Moutere Chardonnay

Solely from grapes grown on the iconic rich Moutere clay soil. The Moutere soils provide water holding capacity which gives relief to the vines when sun shines year round, resulting in wines with piercing precision, high intensity and finesse.
From Mendoza clones grapes planted in 1974, this Chardonnay is slightly smokey, mineral with with a delicate saline palate intertwined with a hint of peach. The use of old puncheons gives the wine complexity and roundness. Bold and pleasing, it's a proper glass of what is arguably New Zealand's, let alone Nelson's most exciting variety.
Heaphy Estate Pinot Noir

100% Pinot Noir from 3 vineyards in Tasman, Upper Moutere and Ruby Bay. Mostly handpicked and destemmed grapes that we process in open fermenters. A bright and expressive Pinot Noir from Nelson on New Zealand’s South Island. Aromas of red cherry, cranberry and wild strawberry are complemented by hints of spice and dried herbs. The palate is supple and juicy, with vibrant red fruit, fine tannins and a gentle savoury note that carries through to a refreshing finish. Elegant, approachable and full of regional character.
Heaphy Moutere Old Vine Riesling
Nelson, New Zealand

The Moutere Riesling was made solely from the estates oldest block (planted in 1973). A lot of dedicated thinning work was done on this block in order to reduce crop levels and concentrate flavours and sugar. Grapes were hand-picked, cold pressed pressed and fermented separately, some in stainless steel and some in old puncheons (500L oak vessels). Some of the stainless-steel fermented portion then spent a few months in Drunk Turtle Amphora, creating a distinctive mouth feel to the wine. All those different elements were blended back together later.
Laser cut, racy, and firm and yet opens up with lively jasmine, spicy ginger, white tea floral notes over a structured palate and intense, mineral finish. Feels like a drive through the luscious Golden Bay.
