This 14 year old is Glenmorangie's Port cask finished expression, dubbed Quinta Ruban. To craft this single malt, the liquid spent 10 years maturing in American white oak casks, before being transferred into specially selected ruby Port pipes from the Quintas (wine estates) of Portugal in the Douro valley. Expect oodles of fruity notes in this wonderfully rounded and complex whisky.
Nose: Full of winter berries and a touch of port. A good oak and a little cereal hanging in the substratum.
Palate: Sweet and thick. The port note is chewy and rich with notes of barley sugar and cereal and lots of juicy fruit and berries, a tad cloying.
Finish: Long and fruity and quite sweet.
