Fercullen Small Batch Irish Whiskey Gift Box
Fercullen Falls Small Batch stands out because it combines the classic smoothness of Irish whiskey with a higher-than-usual malt content, giving it far more flavour and character than many entry-level blends. Produced at Powerscourt Distillery in County Wicklow, it is a 50/50 marriage of single malt and single grain whiskeys matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and heavily charred new oak casks. This creates layers of cinnamon, orchard fruits, brown sugar, toffee and creamy vanilla, while the palate is rich and velvety with sweet malt, vanilla icing, gentle pepper and warming clove spice. The finish is surprisingly long, with lingering malt sweetness and oak spice that belies its approachable price.
What makes it especially impressive is its balance. It is approachable enough for newcomers, yet offers enough complexity to satisfy seasoned whiskey drinkers. Rather than relying on heavy wood influence or aggressive spice, it showcases clean fruit, creamy texture and elegant integration, making it equally enjoyable neat, over ice or in premium cocktails. It also marks an important milestone for Irish whiskey, as it was the first whiskey to include spirit distilled at Powerscourt, the first legal distillery in County Wicklow in more than a century.
