The wines here are fit for a Chairman or a king this Christmas Day. Champagne Jean Pol Haut Bois is a grower champagne meaning the grower has also made the wine and bottles the champagne too, controlling the whole process and also the final quality in the bottle. The rest of this case meanders to a crisp white Burgundy, the perfect Christmas day white wine, as well as A Saint Emilion Grand Cru, a Riserva Chianti Classico from Tuscany from a classic and brilliant producer. To finish and to accompany the cheese after a day of fine food, enjoy a Taylor’s Fine Tawny Port to finish off the day! It will keep once opened for three weeks in a dark cupboard or the fridge for freshness.

Each of the wines has been hand picked by our team, for yours! Match them with good friends and family. We will send a full set of tasting notes for each wine in this case and food matches to be enjoyed with each wine.

Champagne Jean Pol HautBois
Champagne, France
1 x 75cl
The Aperitif
Start the day as you mean to go on. We chose champagne Jean Pol Hautbois because of it's really fine mousse. This leads to a lightly toasty nose with great freshness and floral notes. It is a grower Champagne, grown, produced and bottled by the same family.
Champagne Jean Pol Hautbois Brut expresses all that the Cote des Bar terroir has to offer. It is grown on the Southern exposure and ancient soils of the Champagne region, On the palate it is pleasingly crunchy with an elegant and long-lasting flavour, a wine with much breed and finesse. It is a Domaine bottled Champagne, often referred to as a ‘grower champagne’ so the family have control over the production right to the end and the quality is excellent.

Genetie Macon Charnay Les Macon Bourgogne Blanc
Burgundy, France, abv: 13%
1 x 75cl
The Starter White
For starter's you'll want a wine that is full of freshness and minerality. White Burgundy is almost always Chardonnay and this is home. to the most versatile grape in the world. The soils and terroir give this wine a crisp, mineral freshness with lively acidity and a whopping mouthfull of vibrant fruits. Firstly the name. Charnay Les Macon is a village near Macon in Burgundy.

Now the wine - crisp and refreshing, it hits you with the zesty crunch of greengages before hints of candied peel and lemongrass sneak in on the finish. A little lees ageing adds a subtle richness, giving it just the right amount of polish. Well-made and seriously drinkable.. You'll love this for Christmas

Chateau des Gravieres Graves Blanc
Bordeaux, France
1 x 75cl
The Main Course White
Some of the most unknown and underrated white wines in the world from the Graves region of France. In an area known for it's famous red wines, the whites go less noticed and under the radar. What makes them so great is their acidity, freshness and weight. A description usually reserved for red wines is power. This wine is powerful and complex, with wonderful citrus fruits and a refreshing palet. Astonishing roundness and a fresh clean finish, it will pair really well with  food and it will no doubt be a star on show on the table this Christmas Day,

Chateau La Fleur Cravignac
Saint Emilion Grand Cru, France
1 x 75cl
The first Main Course Red
A family property, just one kilometer from the small medieval city of Saint-Emilion. It covers just under eight hectares of vines grown on clay and limestone soils characteristic of Saint-Emilion. Its vineyards are composed 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. We import the wine directly from Jean Colbert and his wife Karine from the property. It is quite simply the best Saint Emilion Grand Cru we have come across in the last 6 years of tasting wines there. It is a small property with an output of less than 3,000 bottles and the quality is exceptional. We hope you love this wine as much as we do.

Ruffino Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico
Tuscany, Italy
1 x 75cl
The second Main Course Red
A glorious taste of Chianti Classico in a symphony of power and class, fruit and tannins, complexity and agreeableness. The lengthened finish leaves a frank impression of Sangiovese. It is complex and structured, with fine integrated tannins. The wine is really precise and pure. It has a deep colour and it has trademark white pepper flavours from reds of this area. Perfect for a Christmas meal, with robust flavours and a fine ethereal finish.

Taylors Fine Tawny Port
Porto, Portugal
1 x 75cl
The Cheeseboard Wine
Taylors Fine Tawny Port is incredibly versatile. It can be chilled to bring freshness. This makes it perfect as an aperitif. However, it is most widely known for its smooth and mellow character derived from the hand selected wines that are chosen for this blend. It is a pale brick colour with aromas of butterscotch, figs and prunes, interwoven with attractive nutty and spicy aromas. Smooth and round on the palate, full of rich strawberry jam flavours. Enjoy this with the Cheeseboard on Christmas Day. It will keep for well over two weeks once opened, so can be enjoyed throughout the whole festive season.
