Description:
Directly next door to Chateau Rauzan Segla and almost half the price! A Second Growth of Margaux since 1855, Château Rauzan-Gassies continues, with the 2025 vintage, to embody the elegant and refined character that has long defined the estate’s reputation. The vineyard, managed with particular attention to the environment and certified as High Environmental Value, benefits from precise soil management, rigorous vine training, and meticulously selected hand harvest. The harvest, carried out from September 8 to 20, 2025, yielded perfectly ripe, concentrated grapes that retained a beautiful balance.
The 2025 blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (72%) and complemented by Merlot, reveals all the finesse of the Margaux terroir. Winemaking by plot in small-capacity stainless steel tanks allows for gentle and precise extraction, while 18 months of ageing in French oak barrels, 55% of which are new, refines the wine’s structure without masking its identity.
On the palate, the wine reveals a deep, brilliant color with violet hues. The nose opens elegantly with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and black cherry, accompanied by delicate floral notes, sweet spices, and perfectly integrated oak. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and velvety. The body unfolds with great precision, carried by fine, refined tannins that structure the wine without heaviness. The balance between density, freshness, and tension gives the wine a beautiful dynamism and a texture of great elegance. The long, harmonious finish prolongs the fruity and spicy notes with great finesse and persistence.
A particularly accomplished 2025 Rauzan-Gassies, combining depth, distinction, and balance in a style faithful to the great wines of Margaux.
An enjoyable Rauzan Gassies, it has plenty of potential, it's juicy and well extracted, softly so, with bounce and juice, old school in its charm. but deliciously so. 60% new oak for ageing.
