Description:
Anthony Barton’s new venture in Moulis promises to be a big favourite amongst the legion of Barton devotees. Previously called Château Mauvesin, the estate dates back to 1457. The Bartons have already made considerable investment and will no doubt bring all their wine making savoir faire to this new acquisition.

93-94/100 Points - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
"This is firm and chewy with a medium to full body, yet it shows succulent fruit underneath. Outstanding depth as well as a crunchy sense to this, with blackberry and graphite. Profound limestone character is giving this real depth and solidity."

92-94/100 Points - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
"Barrel Sample. Red-fruit and spice aromas embellish a wine that has a fine, juicy balance. It is elegant with a cool line of acidity and succulent black fruits. Integrated tannins show a wine that will age relatively quickly."

92/100 Points - Jane Anson, Decanter
"Seriously deep colour, and plenty of perfume, heather, blackberry and crushed roses, this is really an impressive Mauvesin. This is one that I think will surprise many people. More accessible than many because it keep freshness and juice running through it, but has the depth and concentration of the vintage. One to look out for."

Tasting Notes:
Merlot and Cabernet Franc perform well here thanks to the clay-gravels soils with some plots containing finer gravel soils, allowing the Cabernet Sauvignon planted to reach full phenolic ripeness. The palate is generously filled with juicy, dark fruits with firm tannins providing necessary structure.
