Description:
2025 saw tiny volumes at Chateau Angludet in Margaux, with yields of just 20hl/ha compared to an average of 30 in the wider appellation. Run by the Sichel family and farmed biodynamically since the early 2000s, the focus here is on purity, with 35% of the wine fermented and matured in amphorae, with the remainder in oak barrels (of which 35% is new). Deep and vivid in the glass, this has all the perfume you’d hope from Margaux, with notes of violets and dried rose petals, alongside appealing blackberry notes on the palate.
A benchmark 2025, this is intensely fruited with good concentration but never heavy, with dusty savoury tannins and great lift on the finish. This will certainly benefit from maturation but is a wine you can approach relatively young. Released at the same price as 2024 despite extremely limited volumes in 2025, this is a clear and welcome statement from the Sichel family, who now control the full distribution of their wines.
