Description:
Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella have prioritized quality above all else since founding Roda in the late 1980s. Their goal: to be recognised as producers of one of the world’s iconic wines.
Tasting Note:
The vines that produce Cirsion come from four vineyards and range in age from 60 to 100 years. Grapes from certain very old vine plots were found to begin polymerization of anthocyanins and tannins within the berry at the very end of the ripening period before harvest. The Cirsion blend comprises wines vinified from select clusters from these plots. With an eye to quality, yields are kept extremely low. Roda’s consulting enologists regularly taste the grapes to determine the optimum ripeness levels and time of harvest. Carefully sorted bunches are gently crushed in basket presses, then a cold soak extracts optimal color and tannins before a high-temperature fermentation and a long maceration. Cirsion is aged for 8 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels and 4 months in bottle. Annual production is very limited and Cirsion is not produced every year.
