Description:
Barón de Ley is one of the best-known names in modern Rioja. The estate was founded in 1985 around a restored 16th-century Benedictine monastery near Mendavia, with an idea that was unusual for the region at the time: a château on the French model, with vineyard, cellar and brand in one pair of hands and wines made only from the estate's own grapes.

Finca Monasterio is the estate's flagship red, from the vineyards around the monastery, aged for around 15 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes:
Deep ruby. Ripe black fruits such as blackberries and plums with hints of cocoa and spice. Dense and enveloping on the palate, with well-integrated tannins giving a velvety texture and an elegant, lingering finish.

Food Pairing:
Roast lamb, beef, game and mature Manchego.
