This case features the flagship wines from the Yalumba Wine estate in South Australia. The winery was founded in 1935 and it is one of the founding twelve families of Australian wine - collectively known as the First Familes of Australia. The grape varieties they grow are tried and tested whilst pushing the boundaries and trying new varietals, whilst wrestling and utilising climate, terroir and unique modern winemaking techniques. They are masters of Australian winemaking!

The new Yalumba head winemaker Sam Wigan was in charge of making this Riesling. With its zesty grapefruit, lime and citrus flavours this is the perfect wine to get the gastronomic juices flowing. We believe that Riesling is one of the most under priced of all the grape varieties and this one is no exception. It is crisp, fresh and full of citrus and grapefruit.
Yalumba Organic Chardonnay

We all need to be nicer to the planet and Yalumba have played their part in the making of this Chardonnay which is made using no oak, natural yeasts and no chemical fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides.
All the left over stalks and skins are reused as mulch and the really good news is that the wine is delicious.

This highly aromatic grape is a real specialty for Yalumba. Wine maker Louisa Rose is a master of her craft and this grape is the one that she does better than anybody else in all of Australia. Viognier is a grape that produce wines with high alcohol.
It’s also a wine that ages magnificently and you are going to taste the 2018 vintage which is drinking like a dream.

Winemaker Kevin Glastonbury has crafted this wine from vineyards planted from 1929 - 1972, each vine produces grapes of the highest quality in tiny quantities.
Expect a silky smooth wine of medium body but with complex concentrated flavours.
Look for bright red fruits, clove, spice and pepper on the nose and a silky smooth palate

Almost every year since 1962 Yalumba have released a Signature wine, each one dedicated to a different member of the Yalumba family that has made a significant contribution to the traditions of the company. This is the 2019 release and it honors the work and contributions of winemaker Kevin Glastonbury and chief viticulturist Robin Nettelbeck. Its always produced using the best Barossa fruit.
Expect a full bodied and structured wine with concentrated dark fruit fresh acidity and a lush palate. it’s a wine to sip and savour.

Botrytis is a fungus that affects many plant species with mostly undesired results, but in this case it has a beneficial effect which I am sure Paul will explain to you as you taste the wine. This is a wine that isn’t made every year because the fungus needs very specific conditions in order to help create this very special wine.
