Hochar Pere et Fils
Country: Lebanon Region: Bekaa Valley
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon / Cinsault / Carignan / Grenache
Vintage: 2018 Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Gaston Hochar Chateau Musar
Description: We have always considered Hochar as the training wheels version of Chateau Musar. Using the second pick of grapes from the Musar vines and adding a little Grenache to soften the edges makes both the price and taste more accessible.
The hardest winery to write tasting notes for, it has Bordeaux stylings with a Rhone temperature and features grapes from both. A heavy structured wine with hot, peppery side notes. The best of both worlds.
Tasting Note:
-
An intense burgundy colour with a complex nose of black fruits backed up by figs, dates and spices. The palate is well integrated with good acidity, fine tannins and a good length.
-
This wine's great structure bestows it with excellent ageing potential. Partner with saddle of lamb or Moroccan cuisine.
