Description: Hand-crafted, certified organic wines made from the land with love by the Allan family in Marlborough, New Zealand. Huia vineyards are named after the native New Zealand bird, the Huia. Huia feathers were worn by highly respected Maori. The feathers were seen as symbols of wisdom, dignity and elegance. These are central values to how Huia craft their wines: the wisdom of twenty five years of living on the land where they grow and make their wines, the dignity of nurturing that land through biodynamic and organic practice, and the elegance of wines that speak only of the soil, water, air and geography they come from.
Tasting Notes:
Huia Sauvignon Blanc shows a good aromatic intensity with bright floral notes of elderflower and lime blossom. The wine is layered with flavours ranging from guava, melon, gooseberry and lime zest. Because a small percentage of the wine was aged in a little neutral oak, it has the complexity and softness to be a delicious match with food.
Food Pairing: Seafood like fresh oysters, prawns, scallops, steamed mussels and marinated fish, whitebait fritter, pan-fried white fish, seasonal asparagus, a wide variety of cheeses,
