Takler Kekfrankos Reserve Single Bottle
Country: Hungary Region: Szekszárd
Varietal: Kekfrankos Vintage: 2016
Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Takler Wine Estate
Description:
Despite the fact that winemaking in Hungary is at least a 2000 year tradition, the modern wine industry only dates from the fall of the communist system 30 years ago. Szekszárd, located in the south of Hungary, is where you can find the family run Sebestyén boutique winery, now recognised as one of the top boutique wineries from the region, established by brother and sister Csaba and Csilla in 1998. They are reclaiming the region as their own with a style focusing on the local terroir, and are looking to create wines of elegance and refinement from local varietals: Kekfrankos and Kadarka (the results are spectacular!).
Tasting Note:
On the nose, dominant notes of sour and black cherry are completed with a touch of Szekszárd spiciness. On the palate are lots of red berries and a long length with silky tannins.
Food Matches: Try with mildly spiced Middle Eastern or Asian foods
