Organic wines may be free from pesticides and sulphur dioxide, but that alone is not reason enough to drink them. It is true that quality starts in the vineyard, in the soils, the vines and the land that grapes are grown. Wines still need great fruit, great winemakers and a great understanding of whether to age a wine in a barrel, tank, amphora or other ageing vessel, or even at all!

Here's a little brief about the wines & why you should be drinking them:

Terres Fideles Cotes du Roussillon
Roussillon, France 
2 x 75cl bottles
A Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre blend from the very southern part of France, almost on the Spanish border. A wine that retails at €22 and is just €16 as part of this case. It is a very pure expression of the fruit that comes from 10 vineyard sites, with very little ageing in old oak vats, for minimum subtle oak flavour. Give this time in a decanter if you can and we promise delicious, spectacular things will happen when you taste it. 

Pas Curtei
Penedes, Spain
2 x 75cl bottles
In the little town of Vilafranca del Penedes in Cataluña, Irene and Laurent are challenging the traditional perception of DO Penedes wine. Converting their vineyards from the typical Penedes high yields and abandoning all forms of chemical treatment and fertilisers, they follow basic organic practices. A profound perfume of ripe fruit, very well composed with elegant notes of India ink, typical of the Cariñena, leather, coffee and chocolate notes, earthy touches and mild balsamic hints. It's well polished on the palate, with great structure but a velvety texture, having an intense flavour and a very pleasant suggestion of sweetness.

Clos de Torribas Crianza
Penedes, Spain

A new Crianza with a depth of flavour, lots of juicy blackberry fruits and wonderful flavours. Just €13 as part of this case with an RRP of €16!

Poderi dal Nespoli Sangiovese 
Emilia-Romagna, Italy
2 x 75cl bottles
This Sangiovese comes from organic grapes. This viticulture takes advantage of natural fertility of the soil, which is enhanced by limited works, improving the biodiversity and avoiding any kind of synthetic chemical products. The vine protection is done by copper and sulphur. Also, for the soil treatment the chemical fertilizers are avoid. The oenological products used during the vinification are organically certified. This Sangiovese is genuine and easy to drink. It has a bright red colour with violet highlights. It has a rich bouquet with aromas of red fruits which are typical of the Sangiovese from this area, such as violet and cherry notes. This is a wine for every occasion with its fresh, fruity taste and medium structure thanks to its delicate tannins.

Gorgeous Grenache Thistledown Wines 
McLaren Vale, Australia

Grenache is the grape to watch for 2024. It is resistant to climate change, can ripen easily and delivers bags of flavour. This is a sensational wine that is full of blackberries, and white pepper and spice. It's RRP is €22 but it's yours for only €17 as part of this case! 
 
Campo Flores Tinto Organico 
La Mancha, Spain 
2 x 75cl bottles
A delicious wine from La Mancha packed with blueberries and black cherries. It is a great example of an inexpensive wine that has been made from organic grapes. The winemaker has done very little in the winery, keeping the wine simple but honest. This is a one of our store cupboard essential wines that is found in many home cellars week in, week out!
