Created as part of Taylor’s Historical Series, a collection of specially blended cask-aged wines drawn from Taylor’s extensive reserves of tawny ports, ‘The Globe’ is presented in a striking decanter-style bottle inspired by antique “onion” bottles from the 17th century, paying homage to Taylor’s pioneering spirit in International trade and craftsmanship in wood-aged Ports.
TASTING NOTES
A deep mahogany core with amber highlights. Aromas of dried figs, dates, and roasted nuts mingle with subtle notes of spice, cedar, and old polished wood. On the palate, it is smooth and concentrated, with layers of caramel, toffee, and citrus peel, balanced by a fine acidity that gives freshness and lift. The long, warming finish reveals lingering notes of walnut, coffee, and sweet spice.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
The Globe makes a superb after-dinner Port, pairing beautifully with rich desserts featuring dried fruits, caramel, or dark chocolate. It is equally at home alongside a cheeseboard featuring blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort. For a lighter touch, serve it with roasted almonds or dried apricots.
