Description:
With roots dating back to 1808, M. CHAPOUTIER is one of the oldest companies in the Rhône Valley. Yet, its world renown and the quality of wine can truly be accredited to the arrival of Michel Chapoutier in 1990. His willingness to change the set way, thirst for knowledge and open-mindedness, together with his drive to seek, discover and reflect the full potential of their terroirs, letting the soils express their true character, has put their wines firmly on the wine world map.
From the heart of the Southern Rhone this fine example typifies the warm spicy characteristics of the region. A big chewy wine combining power and elegance.
Ageing Potential: 5 to 9 Years
Tasting Note:
Deep ruby red wine, full from rim to core. Pronounced, developed nose of warm spicy fruits - blackberries and damsons - with a whiff of white pepper and cedarwood. Dry with firm tannin structure, lots of heat evident but huge weight of autumn berries fruits coming through. Quite a serious wine but with layers of complexity. High in extract and alcohol - great food companion and quite different.
Food Matches: Red Meat / Beef / Lamb
