Description:
Romaneira is one of the largest estates on the region, with a total of 412 hectares and 3 kilometres of river frontage on the river Douro. The vineyards are planted on terraces on the steeply sloping hills of the property: with many valleys and promontories, Romaneira contains several microclimates and various South Easterly, South Westerly and Southern facing slopes. The resulting diversity means that the single vineyard wines of Romaneira are made from grapes from a complex blend of sites, and this is one of the keys to the quality and character of Romaneira wines. All our wines are made exclusively from grapes from our vineyard, a distinctive characteristic of Quinta da Romaneira wines.
Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel tanks for a period of 10 days where it then undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing Potential:10-15 Years
Tasting Note:
Dark, dense and opaque in colour. Intense fruit of blueberries and raspberries, bread dough, pastry and spices. Characteristic wild flowers aromas present throughout Romaneira´s vineyards. It reveals mineral hints, with well integrated barrel notes of dark chocolate. Very good tannins and outstanding finesse.
