In 1890, the Duke of Aosta visited Pontassieve after learning of a hidden gem in the cellar of the newly established Ruffino, a rising winery known for its Chianti. Impressed, he made Ruffino the royal supplier.
Modus Primo black label, a distinguished Super Tuscan, blends three noble grape varieties–Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon–from three distinct vineyards. It honours the legacy of Modus, showcasing the excellence of Poggio Casciano’s terroir through each refined vintage.
Vineyard Features: Originating from three unique vineyards within the Poggio Casciano estate, situated amidst the hills near Florence. Elevations range from 290 to 450 meters, and the soil is characterized by rich clay, limestone, and gravel content.
TASTING NOTES
An enveloping bouquet of ripe cherry, orange zest, balsamic undertones, and hints of sweet tobacco and vanilla. On the palate: full, round, and harmonious, with intriguing notes of blackberry and chocolate, supported by velvety, silky tannins, leading to a persistent finish with a touch of spice.
Aged for 18 months in new French oak barriques.
