Cantina Zaccagnini Chronicon Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC
Country: Italy Region: Abruzzo Varietal: Montepulciano
Vintage: 2019 Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Cantina Zaccagnini
Description:
Established in the early 1970’s in Bolognano, located in the heart of Abruzzo at the base of Gran Sasso – the highest mountain in the Apennine range, Marcello Zaccagnini’s philosophy has always been tied to the land. The estate’s vineyards are organically farmed, but not certified, as they occasionally have to purchase fruit from other growers due to weather conditions and/or increased demand, and cannot guarantee that those grapes are farmed organically.
Tasting Note:
Deep black dark red colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Spicy black and morello cherry aromas intermix with liquorice and scorched earth notes. Fleshy textured morello cherry and liquorice flavours carry medium body weight with some scorched earth and subtle cinnamon spice characters lying underneath. Polished yet sturdy tannin structure
Food Matches: Assertive, full-flavored “country style” cooking such as: venison or rabbit stew; ossobuco; roast leg of lamb; spaghetti puttanesca; pasta with sausage, pepper and onions; roast duck with green peppercorn sauce.
