Chateau La Fleur Cravignac, Saint Emilion Grand Cru, France

Château La Fleur Cravignac is a historic wine estate in the heart of the Saint-Émilion wine region, producing Saint-Émilion Grand Cru wines. The estate takes its name from Jean-Baptiste Lavau de Cravignac, who served as Mayor of Saint-Émilion between 1730 and 1752. Over the centuries, the property has been passed down through several generations and gained a prestigious reputation. In the early 20th century, Château La Fleur Cravignac became the official wine of the French National Assembly and was a favourite of French President Raymond Poincaré.

In 2021, the estate was acquired by Karine and Jean de Colbert, who have continued to modernise the vineyard while respecting its long heritage. The 7.84-hectare vineyard sits on the north-western plateau of Saint-Émilion, where clay-limestone and clay-silica soils provide ideal conditions for growing high-quality grapes. The vineyard is managed with environmentally responsible practices, including manual harvesting, parcel-by-parcel vinification, and ageing in French oak barrels, large oak vats, and amphorae.

The wines are predominantly crafted from Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, producing elegant, full-bodied reds with aromas of ripe black fruits, spice, and subtle oak. They are known for their balance, silky tannins, and excellent ageing potential, reflecting the classic character and finesse of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation.
