When Englishman Gavin Quinney decided to set up an online wine business, he took himself on a fact finding tour around the world and visited no fewer than 250 Australian wineries in less than six weeks. To say it was a whirlwind was an understatement.
He eventually landed and settled in Bordeaux where he fell in love with Chateau Bauduc, a beautiful 19th century stone building complete with turrets. He decided to buy it there and then, without even consulting his wife. At the time the winery was churning out table wine and in 1999 Gavin and his family upped sticks and moved to Bordeaux. After much investment and a determination to produce top class wines, Gavins estate now produces wines that are sitting on top of some of the world's best wine lists. There are only two restaurants in London with three Michelin Stars and Chateau Bauduc Sauvignon Blanc is the house wine at one of them - Gordon Ramsay, Royal Hospital Road. Crisp, dry and Zingy, this is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the vines surrounding the property of the Quinney family’s Chateau Bauduc in Bordeaux. More recently, the Sauvignon Blanc has become house white at the über-trendy Hotel du Vin.
Not to be outdone, the Bordeaux Superieur also features on the same wine list at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. The listings for these wines extend to Maze Grill, The Savoy and Petrus too. They are also the house wines at all of Rick Steins restaraunts too. Oz Clarke is a huge fan, stating, “Bordeaux needs another 100 Bauducs — and fast.”
We are delighted to stock all three wines from Chateau Bauduc, and they will remain part of our portfolio as we continue to source great value wines from some of the great wineries in Bordeaux. Enjoy some introductory pricing on them now!
