Description: Most of us know Gruner Veltliner as the Jewel of Austrian white wines. It is Austria’s most widely planted grape variety. It’s one of the primary white grapes in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. But winemaker’s fascination with this intriguing grape extends beyond Eastern Europe. Gruner is planted in several states in the US as well as Australia and New Zealand.
Gruner Veltliner is a very food friendly wine. When it started being widely imported into the US a few years ago, It quickly became every Sommeliers favorite white wine and today it adorns many restaurant wine lists.
Tasting Note:Fresh and lively with aromas of lemon and apple. Light-bodied with nice acidity. Clean, crisp and dry. Without the influence of the Danube River, a slightly warmer climate, and the unique soils, this Gruner Veltliner is distinctly Hungarian.
