The beautiful Château de Ferrand dating from the 17th century. Through 300 years belonged to the castle just two families. In 1978 Château de Ferrand bought by Baron de Bich; known for the famous yellow "disposable pen". Baron Bich they fell for Château de Ferrand and the castle's enormous quality potential and activated the massive investments in both basements as in the fields. Since 2005, when the Baron Bich went away, the daughter Pauline Bich Chandon Moët been responsible, and subject to additional preface to his father's work.

 Château de Ferrand spread over 32 ha. vineyards, located on the edge of Saint Emilion limstensplateau how many of the area's best castles to be found. The vineyards are among the highest in Saint Emilion, and enjoys by virtue of exposure, temperatures are cooler than in Saint-Emilion lowlands, ensuring elegance and freshness in the aromas. The fields are planted with 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

 Oenologist and vitikulturisten, Thomas Guibert, leading the battle in the fields, with optimal grape quality and sustainability as landmarks. All work is customized according to each parcel needs. When the harvest is sorted grapes in two stages. First, in the vineyard, and then when the bunches arrive at the cellars, with an advanced optical sorting system that ensures that only perfectly ripe and healthy grapes after fermentation tanks clean. An extremely rigorous selection ensures that only the very best tapped as Château de Ferrand Grand Cru Classé. The harvest from the younger vines, planted in the same terroir kept separate and bottled as "second wine" Le Different the Château de Ferrand.

 That this is the "second wine" of high-class illustrated by le Different is classified as a Grand Cru. In the excellent 2010 vintage represents Merlot grape 76% of the final blend. Cabernet Franc that gives complexity and finesse accounts for 17% and Cabernet Sauvignon that provide "backbone" stands for the remaining 7%. The result is a great Saint-Emilion Grand Cru with aromas of dark berries with a grant of "spice". Balanced and fine concentrated flavor with good tannins. Delivering now, but also with potential for development.
