Description:
Château Grand Lys is an old mansion dating from 1805 surrounded by vines. This family property finds itself in the middle of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, and the vineyard was planted there in 1881. Philippe Perron, the current owner, bought the estate in 1986. Vineyard & location: 25 hectares of vines are planted at the estate, which runs along the ridge of a hillside. Half-way between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers in the village of Cleyrac, it is close to the fortified town of Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, which is steeped in mediaeval history.
Harvest, vinification & ageing: Traditional Bordeaux winemaking techniques are used at Grand Lys, with the added benefit of modern technology and knowledge. The wine is aged for a minimum of 12 months before being bottled.
Tasting: The wine is a deep garnet colour. The nose shows fresh fruit notes that intermingle with a hint of vanilla. The wine is dense in the mouth, round, and shows great length.
