The wines of Terre Nere are from slope on the North of Mt Etna, most between 50-100 yrs old and one parcel having survived the phylloxera is 130-140 years old. Varying in elevation from 600-1000m and soils that change even within the individual crus themselves, these are wines that speak to a place.
"The Tenuta delle Terre Nere 2022 Calderara Sottana Etna Rosso is drop-dead gorgeous, starting with its heady scents of wild rose, blue flower, camphor and dark, exotic spice. Made from extremely old vines in what are some of the rockiest soils in the denomination, it's smooth, delicious and elegantly structured, delivering layers of ripe raspberry, creamed strawberry, bitter orange, star anise and crushed mint.
