Description:
Bodegas D. Mateos is a family winery in Rioja Oriental whose knowledge of its vineyards has been handed down for more than 150 years. It is one of the region's recent rediscoveries, making characterful wines from old, low-yielding vines.
La Vanidosa No. 2 is a Garnacha made from hand-harvested grapes, fermented at controlled temperatures and aged for several months in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes:
Dense purple. Expressive blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry and mulberry with cigar box and toasty oak. Dry and grippy with a dense texture, lively acidity and a long finish.
Food Pairing:
Duck breast, braised chicken or roast pork. Serve at 15 to 18°C.
