Bodegas D. Mateos is a family winery in Rioja Oriental whose knowledge of its vineyards has been handed down for more than 150 years. It is one of the region's recent rediscoveries, making characterful wines from old, low-yielding vines.
La Mateo Vendimia belongs to the family's limited, numbered range, made only in years when the selected plots of around 50-year-old vines give fruit of the right quality. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new barrels, followed by 14 months in new 225-litre barrels, 85% French and 15% American oak.
Tasting Notes:
Bright ruby red with a deep, youthful core. Concentrated dark fruit with spice and toasty oak, and a long, polished finish.

Roast lamb, beef, game and mature cheeses.
