Description:
A must-try white wine, this wine is made from Godello, the classy Spanish grape that is all the rage in restaurants on account of its phenomenal versatility for food pairing. This is bright and broad and is the freshest of the Godellos that they produce, full of blossom and greengage, apple and subtle spices. 90 points Wine Spectator and Guia Peñin.
Godello is a wonderful white grape variety that is grown in the north Spanish region of Bierzo. It's right at the top of Portugal and a bit over to the right. Full of pear and apple flavours and a touch of apricot in really good examples. It is a super match for seafood and because it's a little richer than other whites in the region, it is also great with poultry and pork.
As a comparison, the Godello grape has some of the aromatic qualities of Albariño, but more of a fleshy and rewarding mouth-feel and the possibility of a touch more complexity and spice. This Godello is made by regional powerhouses from the neighbouring Ribera del Duero region: their goal was to make whites that were fine and elegant, with a fat body, capable of aging. Sounds right up our street.
Polvorette means powder or dust...
Tasting Note: Pale greenish yellow, clean and bright. On the nose, one can appreciate the primary aromas of the Godello variety, recognising the floral and citrus notes, but with a certain complexity and intensity. On the palate is fresh and elegant, in harmony with what we sense in the nose. Acidity is present, but it manifests itself in a balanced way, giving rise to a complete and intense wine that invites us to drink."
