Vinification Details The grapes, picked by hand, are immediately pressed and their must, filtered and refrigerated, is fermented to get the basic wine for the following sparkling process. The sparkling character of the wine is obtained by using the "Charmat" natural refermentation method at a controlled temperature. There is contact with the lees throughout both fermentations to develop more character in the wine.
History Founded by four brothers after the Second World War, Santero was created to produce sparkling wines and classic Piedmont wines. The brothers were successful and the company - now thoroughly modernised - remains in the hands of the Santero family today. The Villa Jolanda range is inspired by the legend of a woman named Jolanda who spent her life creating her dream home, or villa, in the Langa region of Italy.
Regional Information The grapes for this wine come from two regions, the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. The vineyards are on well-exposed, hilly lands with calcareous soils and a temperate climate.
