The Twelve French Reds cases comprises six different wines with two bottles of each. a wonderful tour around the country with some wonderfuk reds from Languedoc to Bordeaux, and Minervois in between.
Languedoc, France
2 x 75cl Bottles
A delicious wine, rich, ripe and robust with excellent weight of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, and bilberry fruits with pepper, spice and liquorice sensations. The structure is soft in the mouth followed by excellent fruit flavours with a hint of vanilla. The tannins are mellow due to maturation in oak barrels. A superb smooth silky wine made from low yielding grapes. While 'Les Eclats' is drinking beautifully now it would hold cellaring very well for at least 5 years more, always a sign of a classy wine. 92 Parker Points
Chateau Mignan Pech Quisou
Minervois, France
2 x 75 Bottles
Made from a blend of 73% Syrah and 27% Grenache, grown on the deep limestone and clay soils. It is a spectacular wine that needs nothing more than a few hours to breathe and it will impress all who taste its splendour.
Chateau Beausejour Fronton
Bordeaux, France
2 x 75cl Bottles
The Melet family has owned Château Beauséjour in Fronsac for five generations. Since 2011, the consultant oenologist has been one of Bordeaux’s finest, Stéphane Derenoncourt: here the grapes are picked by hand and the wine is aged for eighteen months, two thirds in barrel. 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc; and terrific this vintage, delivering ripeness
Pic St Loup, France
2 x 75cl
This is a dense, Spectacular, full-bodied wine with inviting aromas of dark berries, mocha and herbs. Intensely flavoured with ripe dark fruit on the palate, the wine is nonetheless dry and balanced, with smooth tannins and refreshing savoury notes on the generous finish. Drink now with BBQ fare, especially grilled steak with herbs, or cellar for 3+ years.
The Chateau du Pin 2016 is a Merlot based blend that displays generous ripe fruit and a satisfying bright finish. The wine’s colour inclines to bluish-purple rather than black, while the nose displays lush raspberry and black cherry notes. This precocious wine has great acidity in the finish that leaves you feeling vibrant and invigorated. We loved this vivacious little red and voted 7-0 in the first round to feature it. This is a great value and at this price may become an everyday affair.
