Chateau Roc de Levraut Bordeaux Superieur
1 x 75cl Bottles
We believe this wine to be a rare diamond from Bordeaux as it is well presented, tastes exceptional and is at a very reasonable price point! 2015 was also a great year for Bordeaux. Chateau Roc de Levraut has been run by the same family for 3 generations. Their focus is on producing high quality, very low yields of grapes, giving utmost respect to the vineyard and wines. Special cultivation methods are used that protect the environment and enhance natural competition amongst the vines.
Pencarrow Sauvignon Blanc
Martinborough, New Zealand
1 x 75cl Bottles
18/20 Raymond Chan Wine review
Palliser Estate will feature in any discussion of New Zealand's finest wine producers - and their wonderful drink now Pencarrow range has an enviable track record for finesse, elegance and all round over delivery. Ever popular, for good reason, Pencarrow Sauvignon remains a totally consistent Martinborough benchmark and the 2018 is an absolute cracker - loaded with plush layers of tropical fruits and tangy citrus characters.
The Pencarrow brand was introduced as a secondary label to preserve the integrity of the premium Palliser Estate Martinborough brand. However, as often happens with excellent labels, Pencarrow has taken a life of its own, mainly because the quality is very high. ‘The Luminary’ has become the brand to protect ‘Pencarrow’! Allan Johnson has now stepped down from the chief winemaking and viticultural role at Palliser Estate with Guy McMaster stepping into his position. Guy tells me that the Palliser team are in the middle of a programme to identify the superior vineyard parcels to enable even more precise blending, and this will benefit all the Palliser brands.
Torio Oria Reserva
2 x 75cl Bottles
Torria Oria Reserva is a mature blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Garnacha. Despite its age the wine retains good acidity, concentrated fruit balanced by mellow, well integrated oak. A real wow wine for those who enjoy older vintages. The vineyards are located in three of the five sub-areas of de D.O. Navarra with different orientations that allow for considerable variability, and contribute the particular traits of each sub-area. Strict vineyard controls allow the producer to obtain grapes of the highest quality.
Intense ruby-red with tawny hues, typical of ageing. Great aromatic intensity of fine toasty notes blending into the fruit. Hints of stewed fruit and cinnamon. Intense, elegant attack with well-structured tannings and good acidity, with fine notes of ripe fruit returning against a background of excellent wood. Long, enveloping finish.
Peter Lehman ‘Portrait Series’ Cabernet Sauvignon
Barossa Valley, Australia
1 x 75cl
When pressured by his bosses in the 1970’s to renege on a hand-shake deal he’d struck with the growers, Peter Lehmann said ‘to hell with them’ and – with the help of the local community – bought all the grapes himself. Peter Lehmann’s winery was created in 1979. For his style and skill as a winemaker, and for his backing of the Barossa and its growers, Peter Lehmann has become a living legend in the Barossa. The colour is deep red with a dense black centre, and the nose gives tantalising aromas of chocolate, blackcurrants, with hints of nutmeg, cloves and star anise. It is a beautifully rich Cabernet with superb depth of seamless fruit. A supple wine, it is lively and inviting and finishes satisfyingly firm.
