Mont Rocher Malbec
Roussillon, France
1 x 75cl Bottle
The old vineyards for Mont Rocher are perched high in the dramatic hills and terraces above the Vallée d’Agly, in the eastern Pyrenees, with a unique character of their own. Famed black schist is interspersed with pockets of limestone from the higher slopes, combining richness and power with a fresher, more finely defined character.
Deeply ruby coloured with a purple tinge, there are abundant plum, blackberries and cherries on the nose with a hint of pepper and violet. The palate is equally appealing, bursting with refreshing red fruit, notes of cassis and leather and with a pleasingly silky mouthfeel. Perfectly balanced tannins and medium levels of acidity round out the soft black and plum fruits leading to a smooth and succulent finish.
Rocca Antica Negroamaro di Salento
Puglia, Italy
1 x 75cl Bottle
Deep ruby red wine with pronounced aromas of stewed prunes and cherries. Dry with smooth tannin structure and big weight of ripe plummy fruit - black cherries and 'Christmas cake' flavours. Lovely length and balance with a flavour that lingers long on the palate.
Poderj Achelois Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC
Abruzzo, Italy
1 x 75cl Bottle
This wine is made the Montepulciano grape and aged in oak barrels for 6 months prior to bottling. This is a juicy wine with soft tannins and ripe plum and black cherry fruits followed by chocolate and vanilla notes From the oak aging. The quality has to be tasted to be believed!
Chateau Roc de Levraut Bordeaux Superieur
Bordeaux, France
1 x 75cl Bottle
This Bordeaux Superieur is in the classic structured style that shows red and black fruit, a touch of cassis, that mixture of dark berry and sage-like herbal musk so prevalent in Bordeaux reds, and a lovely plump blueberry from the Cabernet Franc. The tannins are noticeable, but don't dominate the wine, suggesting instead that there will likely be a few years of ageing capacity here. This is a remarkably tasty Bordeaux made in the classic style. Delicious for drinking now but capable of ageing for 5 to 7 years.
Casa Del Marques Rioja
Rioja, Spain
1 x 75cl Bottle
The first sip of this Rioja reveals a juicy and well-balanced character. The dominant red fruit flavours from the nose translate beautifully, offering a burst of freshness and vibrancy. These are complemented by a touch of vanilla, likely imparted during the wine's time spent ageing in oak barrels. The tannins are present but fine-grained, leaving a smooth and pleasant texture on the tongue. Well-integrated acidity provides a refreshing lift and structure, ensuring the wine remains lively throughout the tasting experience.
