Bodegas Protos, which comes from the Greek word for "First", is proud to be the first winery in the Ribera del Duero, founded in 1927. Year after year its wines boast the highest quality, personality and prestige.
It is a white wine from the Rueda produced by the Bodega Protos winery, well known for producing reds in Ribera del Duero.
Protos Verdejo is made from 100% Verdejo, a Rueda typical variety. The grapes come from vineyards located in La Seca (Valladolid). These are planted on south-facing slopes, with the intention of taking advantage of sunshine, necessary for the optimal ripening of the grapes.
The climate of the area is dry, with hot summers and long, cold winters, with night frosts reaching -18 ° C, and with very steep temperature differences between day and night, ideal for proper maturation of the grape.
The development of Protos Verdejo starts with a harvest and transport of grapes in boxes of 20kg to manually select them in the cellar.
Once selected, the grapes undergo rigorous maceration and fermentation at controlled temperature of 14 ° C with an eye to maintain the maximum freshness possible in this Protos Verdejo.
Very fresh and aromatic. Fleshy and silky on the palate with a high concentration of fruit. Good acidity with a delightful finish with slightly herbal and bitter notes.
