The Antinori family, who have been crafting superior Tuscan wines for more than 600 years, have owned and managed the Pèppoli estate since 1985. A great expression of Chianti Classico, Pèppoli shows notes of dark cherries, well-integrated with the chocolate and vanilla aromas from the oak-aging. The palate shows a strong Sangiovese varietal character. The tannins are soft and silky, and the finish is long.
The Pèppoli estate, located in the heart of Chianti Classico, consists of 100 hectares in total, fifty of which are planted to vines.
90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and Syrah, aged in oak for a period of approximately nine months, principally in large Slavonian oak casks but with 10% going into small American oak barrels.
