Montsable Reserve Pinot Noir
90 points - Montsablé Réserve Pinot Noir 2021 ‘Deep dark red with a good purple tinge, the bouquet reserved but rich, deep, robust, ripe plummy and not really pinoty/fragrant. A touch of earthy/ironstone character. The palate is tense and firm with abundant tannins and a gritty texture. More weight than the regular bottling.’: Bob Campbell MW

Description:
The wines of Montsablé are inspired by the desire to craft elegant Burgundian varietals from Southern France. Working with growers in cooler sites of lower vigour, we seek out fruit that delivers pure flavours and great balance. In the winery, the fruit is handled carefully to build texture and mouthfeel, with oak only ever used to add just the most subtle of seasoning. The result is a Chardonnay with great palate weight, bright fruit and texture while our Pinot positively sings with lifted cherry and wild strawberry fruit.
Montsablé Réserve represents the pinnacle of site selection within the Haute Vallée de l’Aude, the coolest of all the Mediterranean regions of France due to altitude and influence of the cool Atlantic wind, the Vent Cers. Altitude, climate and limestone rich soils combine to produce outstanding fruit, with which we create wines of elegance and freshness.
Tasting Note:
Aromas of dark cherry and blackberry plus a rich, round palate of red berry fruit are complemented by toasty, vanilla notes that bring a touch of spice to the finish.
